A prayer box, Gau (Ghau or Gao), is a Tibetan Buddhist amulet in silver and is used as jewelry. As a small container used to hold and transport powerful amuletic items.
Gau with printed Om Mani Padme Hum- words that in Sanskrit translate "oh, the jewel of the lotus!", And whose pronunciation in Spanish would be "om mani peme jum", is the mantra of Chenrezig, Buddhist deity of Compassion. It is considered by Tibetan monks one of the essential mantras of Buddhism, since it contains all the teachings of the Buddha, and, for this reason, it is also one of the best known mantras in the world.
Gau has 3 engraved symbols- Buddha Eyes, Dorje and Tibetan Om.
* The Buddha Eyes symbol is used to enhance knowledge, wisdom and compassion.
* Dorje is an artistic and architectural representation of spiritual dynamics, its origin is believed to be in a kind of trident that Buddha snatched from Indra and transformed by closing the ends into what we now know as Dorje or Vajra, making it the symbol of supreme and indestructible power.
* Om is the symbol of the essential in Yoga. It means unity with the supreme, the combination of the physical with the spiritual.
